WELCOME TO BOY SCOUT TROOP
Gettysburg -- The Billy Yank Trail One of the favored places that we like to go to is
Gettysburg National Historic Battlefield. On July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd,
1863, one of the most devastating battles in our country's history was fought,
literally pitting brother against brother in some situations. Over
51,000 men were killed, wounded, captured, or reported missing during those
3 days of battle, and you continue to get the feeling that the soldiers are
still there as you walk the battlefield and the trails around the battlefield.
Many monuments have been erected in honor of these fallen men, and
you can feel the pain from those who lost family members during the battle
as you read the inscriptions on the monuments. Come along with us as
we visit history and see if you can feel the presence of the battlefield
through the pictures. When done, remember to read "Ghost Cannons",
a true narrative of the experience of one of our Assistant Scoutmaster's
while on the trip.
